SYAKA NI SEPPOU

(It is not necessary to talk any more)

Syaka is a god in Buddism. He was also the first person who found the way of person's life in Buddism. So the other words, he is the master of Buddism.Seppou means to teach  the way of things, and to tell a logical opinion. So "Syaka ni seppou" means that a foolish man who learned anything half done explains to a master or specialist.
Maybe this "Kotowaza" is a true story. In ancient time Syaka was a son of a king in the country. But when he was 29 years old, he decided that he would search for the person's way, and he through out his job, his family, his wife, and his children.(terrible) And when he was 35 years old, at last he found the way of life in Buddhism, and he went to the next step. The next step was to teach everyone Buddism. In the end, he taught to everyone for 45 years. One day, Syaka walked down the street. There were a lot of people on the street. One man taught everyone what way of life is. Syaka did not worry about that because he was a master. And he continued to walk. The man, of course,
got angry with Syaka for such a reaction. Then he began to talk about the way of life to Syaka. But the man had learned something half done. Finally, this man understood the logical opinion by Syaka. Everyone said him to what a foolish man he was! Now "Syaka ni seppou" means that it is not necessary to talk any more.

P.S While 29 to 35, Syaka had eaten only salt and pepper, and milk in a day. Could you understand him?
